Dwight Calhoun aka Mr. Cardio- Tone began his life of dance at the age of four. He was most inspired by such dance greats as James Brown and Michael Jackson. With no formal dance training, Mr. Cardio- Tone is considered a natural at best and has wowed others with his unique concept of combining body toning, dance and aerobic workout into what is called Cardio -Urban Line Dance and Fitness. Once you experience Mr. Cardio- Tones energy and enthusiasm you will too understand why his passion for Cardio- Urban Line Dance has taken him to teach and perform in countries in Africa and throughout the United States.
Mr. Cardio- Tone is a certified personal trainer, dance and fitness instructor who attended Clark Atlanta University (1985-1988) and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Troy State University. He is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity INC. and various other community and civic organizations. At present, Mr. Cardio Tone is a resident dance and fitness instructor at Urban Line Dance and Fitness in Columbus GA, Ben Hill Recreation Center, South West Arts Center and Dance 411 in Atlanta GA. Mr. Cardio- Tone also makes frequent guest appearances at D.E.E.N. Institute / ABz Solute Fitness in Jacksonville, Florida.
Although great at dance, Mr. Cardio- Tones true gift is working with the youth, serving as a mentor to teach the fundamentals of good health and fitness. Mr. Cardio- Tones motto is “ Making Fitness Fun for All Ages and All Occasions” in which he has developed Cardio- Urban Line Dance routines designed to target children age preschool to teens through KIDZ Fit , Adults with City/Group/Corporate Fit , and with Fitness After 5 ( Adults 50 and over).
With Mr. Cardio Tones energetic and entertaining approach to fitness you will see why Cardio- Urban Line Dance has earned the reputation as the fastest and most fun way to get and stay fit. Although I am great at dance my gift is working with both children (ages 2-16) and adults (all ages). While uniquely combining 66 (ever-expanding) line dances, slides and shuffles to a one hour interactive cardio-jam workout to old, new school, gospel and inspirational music. I make it an enjoyable atmosphere to build your cardio and lose inches / weight. My signature statement: “Few can out dance me, but NONE can outlast me”. Looking forward to making you sweat. Stepping or Step Dancing
Stepping is a form of percussive dance in which participants use the entire body as an instrument to perform complex rhythms and sounds. A mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand claps are woven into a compelling routine. Stepping was popularized in the mainstream from the movie “Stomp The Yard” but actually dates back to boot dancing in South Africa.
This format is popular with youth groups and college groups. It can be used to promote sportsmanship in competitions, creativity, and communication skills all while getting fit. Because of the extensive use of hand eye coordination, stepping can also enhance brain function and memory.
Dwight can coordinate a youth step show with your church group, school, or youth organization. This would make a great fundraiser, school event or after school program. Or, he can facilitate a step program specifically designed to promote fitness among youth. He can work with children as young as 4 up to adulthood. There is a crisis among America’s children. Childhood obesity is plaguing our youth throughout the nation at an astronomical rate. In order to reverse this trend MRCARDIOTONEnterprises has designed The 24 hour daycare fitness program consisting of 24 fun fitness games that teaches educators, parents and children to make healthy CHOICES.
Research indicates the hours 7am-7pm are the most important times in our children lives. This is traditionally when learning takes place.
